HOW IT WORKS

Decentralized Futures is an open experiment.

It includes conversations, dinners, hackathons, and public prototypes — all designed to explore new ways of making and sharing culture.

Conversations

June 23rd, Lincoln Center

We kick off with a night of public talks bringing together artists, technologists, storytellers, and curious minds.

Together, we’ll ask: What could creative infrastructure look like beyond centralized control?

This is just the beginning — a glimpse of what’s to come.

Dinners

We’re hosting a series of curated Jeffersonian Dinners — in-person and online.

Each dinner centers around a single question and brings people together for deep, thoughtful conversation about creativity, decentralization, and collaboration. Conversations will be shared via an audio recording and transcript.

Hackathons

We’ll run two hackathons

  • Summer 2025: 5 artists + 5 technologists working side-by-side to build speculative art-driven experiences, tools and/or systems.

  • Fall 2025: A virtual hackathon open to all — no technical experience required. Bring your curiosity, remix ideas, and build in the open.

These aren’t competitions. They’re experiments — spaces to explore and shape the future of creativity.

Prototyping

Prototyping is the process.

We’re inviting people to build in public — whether you’re making art, games, performances, stories or tools.

You can remix, experiment, and share your work with a community doing the same.

This is a space to learn by doing — together.

Social Contract

By joining Decentralized Futures, you’re part of an experiment built on:
  • Curiosity
  • Collaboration
  • Creative exploration

We ask that you:
  • Share what you learn so others can build on it
  • Credit and respect others' contributions
  • Share your tools/code when you can

Your work remains yours — unless you choose to share it openly. For instance you can release elements of your work (code, storyworlds, frameworks) under an open license for others to remix and share.

All events are free. If you build a prototype, you're responsible for your own materials and development costs.

This is a space for open experimentation — a place to imagine creative infrastructure and decentralized futures.
